Mystic Lake Casino Hotel is owned and operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), a federally recognized, sovereign Indian tribe. Mystic Lake also offers bars, restaurants, shows, special events, and accommodations. It earlier invested $220,000 in an oil field pipe rethreading business proposed by the Fort Peck Tribes. The casino's gambling options include slots, bingo, video roulette, pulltabs, and live dealer blackjack. This isn’t the Shakopee tribe’s first investment in Fort Peck. The Fort Kipp site puts the casino within 53 miles of Williston, N.D., the epicenter of the booming Oil Patch. Highway 2 has become a key route for Bakken oil traffic. 2 near Fort Kipp at the reservation’s easternmost corner. The casino, to be named the Buffalo Rivers Casino and Lodge, will have a gaming floor with 400 Las Vegas-style gaming machines, a 400-person event center, a 150-person buffet and 75 hotel rooms. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community agreed earlier this month to lend the $29 million to the Fort Peck Tribes for the $34 million project, which is set to begin June 15. The Minnesota Indian tribe that owns the popular Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake will invest $29 million in a casino on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in northeastern Montana, about 40 miles from the North Dakota state line.
